Según la FAO, cada habitante de la Tierra pierde en promedio alrededor de 280 kilos de alimentos al año, mientras que al mismo tiempo, 842 millones de los aproximadamente 7.000 millones de personas en el mundo pasan hambre todos los días.

Da Silva dijo que la pérdida de alimentos se produce principalmente en "granjas, durante el procesamiento, transporte y almacenamiento" y también la "falta de control", que también socava la seguridad alimentaria.

That is, starting from a multidisciplinary approach for assessing the current situation and the potential for human development in the province. The document also raises a number of key proposals for local development in the context of regional and national progress proposed in the National Development Strategy and considering the economic context of the country as a whole.

Summary Dominican society presented the third report of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), which form part of an agenda of global commitment to building equity and the development of a better life for men and women worldwide. The MDGs aim to specific goals related to achieving the development of people, especially those who are less likely to achieve a full life: eradicate extreme poverty and hunger, achieve universal access to primary education, achieving equality gender, reducing child mortality, improving maternal health, tithing HIV / AIDS and ensuring environmental sustainability. The country is committed from the beginning, in 2000; and to a greater or lesser extent, the MDGs have permeated the various instruments of the National Planning System policies, actions and interventions of successive governments, non-governmental organizations and the international community.
